Zimbabwe Science Fair Official Rules

All Zimbabwe Science Fair entrants must follow the official rules of entry, which outline eligibility requirements, ethics statements, and rules for scientific research.

Research that involves humans, vertebrate animals, cell lines or tissue or PHBAs in any way likely requires pre-approval and/or documentation paperwork.

Participation in the Zimbabwe Science Fair is contingent upon abiding by the rules stated below:

  1. The Zimbabwe Science Fair (ZSF) is open to all primary, high school and pre-university students studying in Zimbabwe schools and who are below the age of 19 years as of 1 May 2023. Shortlisted applicants from the pre-judging round will participate in the Zimbabwe Science Fair final judging round.
  2. Projects for ZSF can be submitted either as an individual or a team project. Each ZSF team must comprise not more than three members.
  3. Only one project (individual or team) can be submitted per student. Students who submit more than one project may be disqualified from the competition.
  4. Interested applicants must successfully complete the online registration by 22 January 2023 for their projects to be considered in the entry of the competition. Late online registrations will not be entertained.
  5. As ZSF is an Affiliated Fair of ISEF, it is necessary for ZSF participants to familiarise themselves with the ISEF International Rules and Guidelines as those rules are applicable to ZSF as well.
  6. Top winners of ZSF who are chosen to represent Zimbabwe in the ISEF and other international science competitions must be Zimbabweans or residents of Zimbabwe.
  7. For a research project to be eligible for ZSF, only research work conducted between 1 January 2022 and 22 January 2023 should be reported. The total duration of research done should not exceed 365 days. Continuation projects must be accompanied with a Continuation Form for here.
